Enlightened humans study in heavenly universities during their sleep on a daily basis.
Illuminated by light imperceptible to the human eye, the place held a few hundred fellow consciousnesses temporarily disengaged from their physical bodies by the liberating power of sleep.
Freedom from the body during sleep is the direct resource of our manifestations of fraternal support.
What might I have accomplished in the physical world if I had received this blessed opportunity for enlightenment back then? That handful of mortals under the rays of the moon seemed like a gathering of privileged beings favored by heavenly deities. The millions of men and women sleeping in nearby cities, shackled to their immediate interests and eager to exchange the vilest sensations, wouldn’t have the least suspicion of that unprecedented gathering of candidates seeking the inner light, who had been summoned to work hard at preparing for more lasting and effective incursions into higher cosmoethicality. Did they have any idea of the sublime opportunity that was welcoming them? Would they take advantage of that gift with enough understanding of eternal values?
Sometimes, when asleep, or half-asleep, we have ideas which seem to us to be excellent, but which, despite all the efforts we make to recall them, are effaced from our memory on waking – whence come these ideas?
They are the result of the freedom of the consciousness, who emancipates himself from the body and enjoys the use of other faculties during this moment of liberty, and they are often counsels given by other consciousnesses.
What are the use of such ideas and counsels, since we lose the remembrance of them, and cannot profit by them?
Those ideas often belong rather to the world of extraphysical consciousnesses (clarification assistants, mentors, helpers) than to intraphysical (human) world; but, in general, though the body forgets them, the consciousness remembers them, and the idea recurs to it at the proper time, in its waking state, as though it were an inspiration of the moment.
Signs that you have been helped by the higher extraphysical consciousnesses in solving your problem during your sleep:
Before going to sleep, the individual should think about positive and pleasant ideas, visualizing what one wants to dream about.
There are also numerous examples in the Tibetan tradition of practitioners who received teachings in dreams. You can read about it in the book The Tibetan Yogas of Dream and Sleep by Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche at our free books page.
How can I recall my extraphysical travels during sleep on waking?
Just before going to bed take one 250 mg tablet of vitamin B6, and (optionally) one tablet of any vitamin B-Complex. This allows for extraphysical travels to be transferred from short to long-term memory. Also, in the middle of the night, take 1 tablet of Huperzine-A 200 mcg. You’ll see the difference.
